Pling: Loading Audio Notifications and Window Alert Setup

A Pling guide. Covers Pling 1.8.1 on Minecraft 1.21.1.

Audio Cues and Trigger Events

Pling provides audible feedback to notify players whenever lengthy loading pauses finish. Through the "Pling Configuration" screen, players can designate which gameplay transitions trigger an alert sound. Several distinct loading events can be monitored independently:

  • Enable "Play When World Loaded" to sound a chime as soon as terrain generation finishes and the character spawns in.
  • Activate "Play When World Creation Prepared" to hear a notification the moment initial setup preparation wraps up for newly created dimensions.
  • Turn on "Play When World Optimized" so long-running world maintenance routines signal their completion.
  • Toggle "Play When Resources Reloaded" to sound an audio cue whenever texture adjustments, shader reloads, or asset changes finish processing.

Tuning Chimes and Window Notifications

Beyond basic trigger events, players can adjust acoustic properties and operating system alerts. The specific chime asset is determined by the "Sound" configuration field, allowing users to define any valid audio identifier from the sound registry. The tone frequency can be raised or lowered using the "Pitch" slider to produce higher or deeper chimes suited to personal preference.

For players who multitask during boot sequences, enabling "Require Unfocused" ensures the chime only sounds when the game client lacks active window focus. To prevent missed notifications while tabbed out, toggling "Request Window Attention" prompts the desktop environment to signal the taskbar or application tray, ensuring users know the exact instant their game is ready for play.
